3D Simulation Viewer

Users may now view, manipulate and pick values from their 3D spatial simulation membrane data interactively.  Previously users were limited to viewing 3D spatial membrane data with the Simulation Results Viewer and only in 2D slices in the XY, YZ and XZ planes.

  • Mouse operated “virtual trackball” interface allows object manipulation.
  • Membranes are colored according to simulation data and then shaded to allow 3D visualization.
  • Data values are displayed for “selected” data points (pick points with mouse click with <Ctrl> key pressed).
  • Each membrane surface can be displayed as:
    • Visible to invisible
    • Wireframe or solid
    • Opaque or translucent.
  • Approximate membrane mesh surface area (measured in square microns) is displayed for each membrane surface.
  • A bounding box (checkbox in the window upper left) can be turned on and off to show where membranes surfaces are located with respect to the entire simulation data volume.
  • Launched from 3D simulation results viewer via the “View/Update Membrane Surfaces” button.  Variable/time selection and color scales are controlled by the simulation results viewer.
